Want to learn more about the country’s only "Social Work in the Workplace & Employee Assistance" Sub-specialization?


Are you interested social work in the workplace and/or employee assistance (SWW/EA)? UMSSW has the only program in the country that offers this specialized track for students. The SWW/EA sub-specialization offers both clinical and macro concentration tracks and can be completed without any extra time as part of the Behavioral Health or Organizational Leadership specializations (note that Org Leadership is macro only).


Whether your interests focus on workplace program management, training, evaluation and/or advocacy (macro) or employee assistance, workplace behavioral health counseling, crisis response, management consultation, work/life and wellness (clinical), there are endless ways to provide social work services in diverse work organizations.

*Note: Dr. Frey will provide individual consultation regarding field placements – approved placements might be in EAPs or other settings that focus on working age adults and families – talk with her about your past experience and what you want to learn during your advanced year and she will work with you to help support your academic and career goals. Students can also do the sub-specialization when applying for various substance use scholarship programs such as SUDIF.
