Thread in Baltimore Seeking Volunteers to Work with Young Students Struggling Academically

Thread is a volunteer organization in Maryland that connects people in the community with young students who are struggling academically. We work with our students for 10 years moving them through high school graduation and out into the world all while prioritizing strong, reciprocal relationships.

This year we have been recruiting volunteers from student groups on the UMB campus but we are looking to further our reach in the upcoming semester. The School of Social Work is an obvious choice as our staff has multiple trained social workers and our work is often at the intersection of community building and social work. In volunteering with us social work students would be able to attend weekly lunch and learns to deepen their knowledge of the service based institutions in the city as well as access our Thread guide which gives on the ground advice for deploying resources to help our Thread students.
