The School of Social Work partners with Yonsei University


The University of Maryland, School of Social Work (UMSSW) is entering into an educational and research partnership with the Yonsei University School of Social Welfare in Seoul, Korea. Yonsei University, one of most prestigious Universities in Korea, is thrilled to collaborate with School of Social Work on their Brain Korea 21 (BK21) project. BK21 is an initiative funded by the Korean government to cultivate the next generation of leaders in higher education. Yonsei University is unique in being one of the only Schools of Social Work in Korea to receive this prestigious award to support social work education, research, and practice in Korea.


At the University of Maryland, Associate Professor Haksoon Ahn will lead this innovative project. UMSSW will develop collaborations including the following:


• Development of programs for academic and cultural interchange, scientific research, and other activities of mutual benefit

• Exchange of scholars and academic professionals

• Promotion of joint research activities, seminars, and academic meetings various field of social work practice and research

The School of Social Work is excited to work with Yonsei University on this international collaboration that will benefit both our institutions and the social work profession.
