Conference Theme: Defining Anti-Racist Social Work
Our first annual conference will be virtual and will specifically target racism, recognizing that the profession of social work is at a crossroads. Are we content to continue to manage the consequences of racism, or are we committed to uprooting it? Due to our global human interconnectedness, we recognize the impact of racism on all people and we believe that for social work to truly disrupt racist systems we must adopt an anti-racist practice framework.
Mid-Atlantic Anti-Oppression Social Work Coalition
The MAASWC is a group of social work practitioners, students, and faculty committed to examining and disrupting oppression in all of its forms, including but not limited to racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and gender discrimination.
