SSW Awarded Grant for the Grand Challenges for Social Work from The New York Community Trust

SSW received a grant of $100,000 to help build the Grand Challenges Fellows to Build Social Work's Scientific Pipeline'. Building on 10 years of effort—hosted by the University of Maryland—of hundreds of social work scholars and practitioners, this award is the first foundation award. The funding will provide $3,000 Fellowships for PhD or DSW students whose work aligns with the 13 Grand Challenges.

"Helping emerging social work scholars to advance their careers—and the profession—speaks to the essence of our commitment to building a stronger scientific basis for social work and our allies to tackle the most significant societal problems.” - Richard P. Barth, PhD, MSW

The project is for two years and will help support about 26 dissertations in all.
