On Monday, November 30, 2020, the entire Promise Heights team was awarded the prestigious UMB Champions of Excellence Award in recognition of their creativity, resourcefulness, strategic planning, perseverance, and ongoing work on the front line, starting from the first days of the pandemic.
Now operating virtually out of the UMB School of Social Work, the team has managed innovative programming and engaging interactions with children and families of Upton/Druid Heights.
They’ve also forged important ways to safely provide one-on-one in-person check-ins and services: delivering meals from Black-owned West Baltimore businesses, grocery boxes, book and educational packs for kids, and regularly offering entertaining family-oriented outdoor programs and events.
