PhD Student Tural Mammadli awarded The Donna Harrington Fellowship

Tural Mammadli is dedicated to engaging in research aimed at improving the health of the LGBTQ+ community. He will use the funding provided as part of this fellowship to conduct a qualitative study exploring the mental and behavioral healthcare experiences of Black transgender women living in Baltimore, Washington DC, and Atlanta under the supervision of Dr. Darren Whitfield. Participants in the study will be comprised of members of the Research Community Advisory Board (RCAB) for an ongoing study of Dr. Whitfield. This phenomenological study will seek to elucidate a more in-depth understanding of the healthcare experiences of Black transgender women and identify barriers and facilitators to resources and care from the perspective of the members of the community in addition to aiding Tural’s dissertation development process.
