Nia Speaks nominated to UMB's Diversity Advisory Council


Nia Speaks is the Program Manager at the SSW's Social Work Community Outreach Service (SWCOS). She manages and supports the department’s operations including specialized trainings and workshops, grant funded projects focused on community engagement, hiring and on-boarding new staff as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.


Nia’s core values include compassion, creativity, and wellness. These values have been a guiding light as she strives to do her part in creating an equitable and just experience for all people. Newly nominated to the UMB President's Diversity Advisory Council (DAC), Nia will serve on the DEI Resources Committee and the Anti-racism Action Committee. The mission of UMB’s DAC is to provide recommendations to the president that promote the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
