It's finally here! We have developed a platform, housed within SWCOS, to amplify student voices, connect the student body, strengthen student organizing, and build community around field work.
We put together a mock issue to give you an idea of our vision for the journal, but we are in need of collaborators. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved or join us Fridays @ 2 pm via zoom: https://umaryland.zoom.us/j/96749242429?pwd=eDNETmY1QzhmVXc1b2czWVNtZHdEdz09
The theme of our first issue will be the dual pandemics: COVID-19 and racial injustice. How do these forces interact and how do they affect both our school experience and social work practice? What can we do to use this moment as an opportunity to reshape our world and our education? What are your experiences with virtual education?
We are looking for student submissions for the first issue. This could be a short opinion piece, thoughts or reflections, related work you have done for class, creative writing, art, or photography. Email submissions to email@example.com by December 1st.
We also want to hear YOUR ideas for the name of the journal. We want this to be a truly collaborative project, so we are taking name ideas until November 16th and will vote on the name at our meeting Friday, November 20th @ 2pm. (If you cannot make the meeting, you will still be able to vote by email.)
