Nesbitt and Singer Invited to Address Maryland Department of Health Harm Reduction Workgroup

“Jess Nesbitt and Jeff Singer of the University of Maryland School of Social Work addressed the October meeting of the Maryland Department of Health's Center for Harm Reduction Services Housing Workgroup.

The goal of the Workgroup is "to develop the state’s first housing first program specifically directed towards those who use drugs. This program will include input on the direction of funding as well as create an integrative plan connecting various continuum of care providers." Nesbitt’s and Singer's contributions focused on the importance of privileging the use value of housing over its exchange value and promoting policies that decommodify housing through social ownership and democratic control.”
