May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Across the country, and here in Maryland, buildings, landmarks, bridges, and stadiums are lighting up green the first week of May (5/1-7) to mark the start of awareness month and show support for those living with mental health and substance use issues. Lighting up green sends a powerful message—Maryland believes that mental health is health. Several of our neighbors are lighting our skyline in green; Baltimore City Hall, Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, and World Trade Center Baltimore.

The Mental Health Association of Maryland is working to grow this movement here in Maryland so we can collectively say—Maryland believes that mental health is health.
