Medical Humanities Rounds: Bearing Witness to Suffering

Thursday March 25th, 2021

6-7 P.M.

The UMB School of Medicine's Humanism Symposium and Wellness Committee would like to invite you to the first session of Humanities Rounds, a chance for members of the UMB/UMMC community to gather virtually for an hour to slowdown and reflect on a topic related to health and health care. In small groups, we\'ll discuss several works of music, literature, art, and other media related to a unifying theme.

Join us virtually to talk about and share stories related to suffering and how we might better recognize, be moved by, and respond to the stories of suffering we encounter in healthcare. In other words, how might we "bear witness to" or grasp the gravity of a person's plight.

For this session, we will plan to use a song, two short poems, and an article as starting points for discussion. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ/LISTEN TO THESE BEFOREHAND, but it might be helpful.

We hope to see you there!
