In-Person Opportunity for Graduating Students

Dear Graduating Students, We are excited to announce that, in addition to our virtual convocation celebration, we have been given permission to offer a unique in-person opportunity on the afternoon of Friday, May 21, 2021 for graduating students. While the in-person experience will be abbreviated, it will include:

  1. Your name being read aloud

  2. Processing to be hooded by a faculty member

  3. Having a photo taken with Dean Postmus

Regalia is not required to participate. Graduates who wish to order regalia may do so via Oakhall: If you would like to participate, you MUST register by May 10, 2021. The event will take place outside of the entrance of The School of Social Work, located at 525 West Redwood, Baltimore MD, 21201. UMB remains under strict covid-19 precautions and, as such, graduates will be required to abide by the following guidelines: 1. All participants must wear a mask (students may remove their mask for up to one minute to have a photograph taken by the professional photographer). 2. Students must maintain a social distance of 6 feet (except when being hooded). 3. In order to create a safe and manageable experience, graduates must sign up for the time slot allocated below based on last name (time slots are indicated in the registration form). If you have a time conflict, please contact Dawn Shafer to discuss ( 4. Family and friends are not permitted on the School of Social Work side of the street. Plaza park is directly across the street and may provide a viewing point for guests. 5. This experience will be broadcast live. A link will be forthcoming to all registrants. We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate your accomplishment with you.
