Health Equity Scholars Program

The Health Equity Scholars Program (HESP) is excited to announce the call for application for its 2023-2024 cohort of Scholars, with an anticipated start date of September 2023!

Supported by two NIH-NIA U19 grants (the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, ADNI, and the Health and Aging Brain Study-Health Disparities, HABS-HD), the aim of the HESP is to provide targeted mentored training to emerging scientists who are either from an underrepresented background or have an interest in health equity research. Under the guidance of their chosen mentor (from their institution) and the leadership of the HESP, the Scholars will receive training in basic, clinical, translational, and community-engaged research competencies that will position them to become successful independent investigators.

The application process involves a 3-page research plan as well as a 2-page career development plan. More details about the HESP are included in the attached flyers, and on the HESP website https://healthequityscholarsprogram.medicine.wisc.edu/

Please, help us disseminate the attached flyer to qualified applicants in your network. The application deadline is June 21, 2023.

We are truly excited to partner with you in reaching our goal of increasing health equity and training the next generation of scientifically-sound and culturally-competent researchers!

Please direct inquiries to the ADNI Health Equity Scholars Program Coordinator, Hannatu Amaza adni.scholars@medicine.wisc.edu or the HABS-HD Program Manager Amber Niay habs-hd.scholars@medicine.wisc.edu.
