The Healing Youth Alliance has been invited by the Cities Thrive Coalition (a group of mayors, county managers, and national mental health organizations who band together to advocate for a stronger, better-funded, and more integrated behavioral health system) to speak to the U.S. congressional mental health caucus on Tuesday, July 27th from 2-3pm. The briefing will focus on the need to build mental health equity in our country and feature speakers from across the country.
Led by the SSW's Kyla Liggett-Creel, The Healing Youth Alliance is a collaborative program between SPHERE, HeartSmiles, and the Black Mental Health Alliance. Youth (between the ages of 16-24) learn about mental health in the African American community and Healing-centered Engagement. Youth then graduate from the program and become public speakers and consultants throughout Baltimore City to offer information and education related to Healing in the African American community.
