These trainings are geared towards peer recovery specialists and other behavioral health care providers of recovery support services. This series includes two webinars of about 30 minutes that you view on your own, then one 3-hour Zoom workshop with trainers and fellow participants held online November 12 from 9am-12pm. You must take the webinars in advance of the 11/12 workshop. To register using the link below, you need to have an account with University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Institute or create one now.

Objectives:

1. To define what conflict is and how it may come about

2. To explore how conflict can be a productive part of life and relationship building

3. To examine types of conflicts as well as styles and strategies to manage them

4. To identify how values and culture may influence conflicts

5. To learn how our bodies and minds manage conflict

6. To describe de-escalation techniques, including how to assist upset people


Parts 1 & 2 (taken on your own): What is conflict, how does it come about, what are strategies to manage it? Using conflict management processes to de-escalate and resolve issues


Part 3: Applying conflict resolution & de-escalation skills to recovery support scenarios


3-Hour Online Workshop, Presented on November 12th from 9 AM – 12 PM


With conflict prevention and intervention skills reviewed during the two webinars, trainees will now get to practice skills, ask questions and learn from colleagues.
