DREAM AFSP Walk Fundraiser: Walk with us October 30th!

DREAM: Disability Justice is fundraising for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness this year in Baltimore City. The AFSP (American Federation for Suicide Prevention) is hosting a suicide prevention walk on October 30th.

Event Details

Date: 10/30/2021

Location: Inner Harbor, West Shore Park (401 Light St, Baltimore, MD 21202)

Event Time: 8:30 AM to 12 PM

DREAM is inviting as many people at UMB to either:

1. Come to the walk and join us (you must be masked at the walk, and AFSP takes covid-19 safety seriously), or

2. Donate to DREAM’s fundraising team, the Red Hot Chili Steppers (donations are tax deductible, contact Dana for more information).

Dana Kobrin, Advanced MSW student, has been walking in memory of her close friend Faolan every year since 2016. The walk was canceled in 2020 due to Covid-19, and depression and anxiety rates have soared due to the pandemic’s impact. Telehealth services have increased, but many individuals lost access to mental health services due to job loss and loss of health insurance.

DREAM wants students, staff, faculty, and anyone at UMB who has been personally affected or is an ally to join us. Awareness and fundraising helps keep suicide prevention research alive, funds support groups, and funds crisis lines. Please share this flyer with the donation and walk registration info to your networks of students, staff, and faculty all over UMB.

Feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested.
