Deadline Extended: Seeking Student Researcher

Project Background

The Federal University of Goiás in Goiania, Brazil is seeking a student researcher to support a research project funded by the Brazilian Ministries of Health and Education. The project, titled "Sistema de Mapeamento da Educação na Saúde” (System of Mapping Health Education), or “SIMAPES,” aims to strengthen Brazil's publicly funded healthcare system by improving Brazilian medical education and training. A key part of this research involves comparing Brazil’s medical education system to those of other countries. The student researcher will primarily support this component of the project.


This position would be a good fit for a student interested in public health, medicine, public policy, and/or health workforce capacity building. Portuguese language skills are not required. The student researcher will work remotely from the US with a small international team of researchers.


The project’s US research team is managed by Dr. David Crumpton with the Institute for Governmental Service and Research at the University of Maryland, College Park and School of Social Work adjunct professor and Julia Roche, a MSW graduate from the School of Social Work.


Duties and Responsibilities


The student researcher will conduct and support the following activities:


• Conduct literature reviews

• Perform qualitative and quantitative research

• Interpret, synthesize, and analyze data to identify international best practices in medical education

• Prepare manuscripts and technical reports to disseminate results Brazilian government stakeholders


Qualifications and Experience


• Experienced in qualitative and quantitative research methods

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently

• Experience in manuscript preparation helpful but not required


This is a fully remote position with flexible hours and will require an average of 7 hours per week. This position will be compensated, pay-rate TBD.
