PhD Candidate Todd Becker, and colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh and Virginia Commonwealth University have a new paper published in Health & Social Care in the Community. It explores the psychometric properties of a Spanish-language version of the abbreviated Lubben Social Network Scale, with the effect of social isolation on self-rated health.
Using data from their 2019 data collection efforts with older adults in Puerto Rico, authors found that the scale demonstrated acceptable fit. Path model results further demonstrated a statistically significant indirect effect of the scale's Friends factor on self-rated health through perceived sense of community.
