Becker and Colleagues Publish in Health & Social Care in the Community

PhD Candidate, Todd Becker, and colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh and Virginia Commonwealth University have a new paper published in Health & Social Care in the Community that explores the psychometric properties of a Spanish-language version of the abbreviated Lubben Social Network Scale along with the effect of social isolation on self-rated health.

Using data from their 2019 data collection efforts with older adults in Puerto Rico, the authors found that the scale demonstrated an acceptable fit. Path model results further demonstrated a statistically significant indirect effect of the scale's Friends factor on self-rated health through a perceived sense of community.
