The University of Maryland, School of Social Work has partnered with the Black Mental Health Allianc

The University of Maryland, School of Social Work has partnered with the Black Mental Health Alliance and HeartSmiles, LLC on offering live informational sessions to youth from Baltimore on mental health in the African American Community via YouTube live. Guest speakers include the School of Social Works very own Andrea Tompkins (MSW student), Orin Howard (Clinical Instructor), and LaShonda Godwin (Clinical Instructor)! They will all be guest mentors on the live sessions this week! The youth learned from Nia Jones (Black Mental Health Alliance) today and will learn from Mr. Richard Rowe (Black Mental Health Alliance) tomorrow. This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn more about mental health in the African American community and for youth to also share their own thoughts and feelings about trauma in Baltimore. Thank you to all volunteer mentors for helping youth heal! For more information, or to find out how you can be involved, please contact Kyla Liggett-Creel kliggett-creel@ssw.umaryland.edu, Clinical Assistant Professor at School of Social Work and Lead Strategist for the Office of Youth and Trauma Services at Baltimore City Health Department.
