MSW Students and Clinical Social Workers Needed!

Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty,

We have received a request from our colleagues at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) asking for students and social work professionals who can provide support for a 250-bed Field Medical Station that is being created at the Baltimore Convention Center (see attached letter). They are looking for social work students with health care experience and licensed social workers. In the attached letter, Dr. Rowen, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services, provides a link for social work students, but there is another link (below) for licensed clinical social workers. She has asked that I help recruit as many applicants as possible. Although some of the specs are written broadly and may seem to require some nursing skills or credentials I am assured that the goal is to hire personnel with social work skills—especially social workers with experience with health and behavioral health integration. Please do not be dissuaded from applying if you do not seem to be an exact fit for the position.

Social Work Student Positions

Clinical Social Work Position:

Let me be clear that these are on-site paid temporary positions, not volunteer opportunities. Individuals who are hired will receive medical insurance and be covered under UMMS malpractice insurance. This opportunity is unrelated to your responsibilities as a student or a faculty member and we understand that these positions will only be feasible for a small number of students. That is why we would like to let as many in the School of Social Work community know about these positions as possible. In the coming days and weeks, we plan to inform members of our community about a range of volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for considering this request.
