SAVE THE DATE! SGA at SSW along with USGA invite you to attend Factuality: A Game on Structural Oppression on Monday, March 30th.

Imagine playing Monopoly, but you are the game pieces; & the real estate properties are various historical, and covenant neighborhoods around Baltimore City; but instead of “chance cards”, a whistle followed by daunting statistics determine your fate as you attempt to leverage your power to successfully navigate society; Factuality offers an interactive crash course on structural inequality in America.

The dialogue is facilitated through use of a board game in which participants adopt identities of the characters above, encountering a series of fact based limitations and advantages based on their race, gender, faith, sexual orientation and disability status. The simulation thoroughly unpacks topics including redlining, gentrification, pay-gaps, incarceration disparities, and limitations in access to care based on cultural insensitivity. The event allows for a safe space to delve into the intricacies of societies strategic marginalization of specific groups of people, while opening the doors to a transparent discussion on intersectionality in America.
