SSW Faculty and Alumni Honored at SSWR Conference

At the recent Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) national conference several University of Maryland School of Social Work faculty members and alumni were honored for their excellence and mentorship. The conference, held last week in Washington, DC, recognized the following individuals:

David E. Biegel, MSW ’70, DSW ’82 2020 Distinguished Career Achievement Award Biegel is the Henry L. Zucker Professor of Social Work Practice and Professor of Psychiatry and Sociology at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.

Jill Levenson, MSW ’87, PhD

Inducted as a Fellow, American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare Levenson is a Professor of Social Work at Barry University in Miami, Florida.

Geoffrey Greif, MSW, PhD Inducted as a Fellow, American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare Greif is a Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Amanda Lehning, MSW, PhD Kyeongmo Kim, MSW, PhD ’17 2020 Excellence in Research Award, Honorable Mention Lehning is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Kim is an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work.

Laurie M. Graham, MSW, PhD 2020 Outstanding Social Work Doctoral Dissertation Award, Honorable Mention Graham is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Dissertation Title: “What is the National Burden of Intimate Partner Violence Related Deaths, and How Might We Begin to Explain Their Occurrence?”

Bethany Lee, MSW, PhD 2019 JSSWR Early-Career Mentored Reviewer Lee is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Associate Editor for the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research. Lee is also Editor-in-Chief of Residential Treatment for Children & Youth Lee mentors Shelly Ben-David, an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia.
