Professor Fernando Wagner and a team of his colleagues at the National Autonomous University of Mexico have published a paper in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence. The authors analyzed data from Mexican Adolescent Mental Health Survey to understand the effect of chronic childhood adversity on the time from first alcohol use to the development of alcohol use disorder. Youth who experienced different forms of adversity transitioned more quickly to alcohol use disorder than youth without a history of adversity.
