The fellowship coincides with the advanced year field placement. BHWISE Lifespan Fellows will be supported with a stipend of $10,000 per student. Students starting their advanced year field placement in the fall of 2020 who have a concentration in Clinical or Clinical/Macro, with a specialization in behavioral health, children & families, health, or aging are eligible for this program. BHWISE IOWA: The School of Social Work has been awarded a 1.3 million dollar grant from the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) to expand the Behavioral Health Workforce Integration Service and Education (BHWISE) Program. The new, additional BHWISE program named BHWISE-IOWA (Interprofessional Opioid Workforce Advancement) will train 11 social work students alongside 4 psychiatric nurse practitioner students and an Addiction Medicine Fellow, each of the next 3 years, preparing them for interprofessional practice in treatment programs that serve individuals, families and groups affected by opioid use disorders and co-morbid health conditions.

Students starting their advanced year field placement in the Fall of 2020 who have a concentration in Clinical or Clinical/Macro, with a specialization in behavioral health, are eligible for this program. BHWISE SUDIF: The Substance Use Disorder Interventions Fellowship (SUDIF) is a 2-year fellowship program that offers a generous stipend and specialized advanced year field experience for students who desire to become skilled in working with vulnerable, underserved populations, particularly individuals impacted by substance use disorders. SUDIF fellows are expected to work in a substance use disorder setting providing direct clinical services for two years following graduation. Incoming MSW students and part-time students who will enter their Foundation field placement in fall 2020 are eligible to apply. Advanced standing students are NOT ELIGIBLE for SUDIF.
