First year students interested in learning about the SSW’s unique program preparing social workers for clinical and macro careers in EAP and the workplace should plan to attend an information session to learn more about the program, field placements and career options. Did you know that UMSSW has the only dedicated graduate social work program in the world that provides students with an opportunity to focus their studies in the exciting and fast-growing field of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), in addition to other career tracks for social workers in the workplace? Have you ever considered the workplace as a setting to reach out to and engage employees and their family members in supportive counseling on issues related to behavioral health, work/life, stress, and crisis intervention? Do you have an interest in mental health, program management and organizational consultation, and/or substance use, crisis and trauma, and stress management? Are you interested in prevention and early intervention with working families? Do you like variety throughout your day with clinical, mezzo and macro work, coupled with challenging social problems that you are in a position to influence in the work organization? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, please attend one of the upcoming EAP information sessions so you can learn first-hand, from the chair of the program, Dr. Jodi Jacobson Frey, how the EAP subspecialization can provide you with additional skills within the broader behavioral health specialization that will set you apart from other entry-level social workers.
