Second-year PhD Student, Todd Becker, was one of ten students the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW) accepted to the ninth cohort of its Pre-Dissertation Fellows Program.
AGESW strives to provide “leadership in the areas of gerontological social work education, research, and policy, and fosters cooperation, collegiality, and an exchange of ideas among social work educators, researchers, and students committed to or interested in gerontology.” This is accomplished, in part, through the Pre-Dissertation Fellows Program, which supports students prior to candidacy through opportunities such as networking, mentorship, construction of research agendas, development of career plans, and overall socialization to the social work academy. Becker hopes to contribute to the field of end-of-life care through his research interests related to the wish to hasten death (WTHD), palliative sedation, and bereavement.
