Culture plays a big part in the perceptions of the healthcare system among individuals. These perceptions may impact decisions to utilize services or not, especially when it comes to HIV in the African-American community. It is important for providers to understand culturally influenced behaviors, including their own when it comes to HIV prevention. This one-day workshop will explore cultural factors of African-Americans and discuss ways to apply skills learned.
