Child support forcing poor families further into poverty

Research by the SSW's Family Welfare and Research Training Group is cited in a Baltimore Sun Op-Ed that examines legislation in Annapolis that will affect children across the state who rely on child-support payments.

 

According to the research, "In 2017, three-quarters of Maryland parents with child support orders making minimum wage or less owed arrears, according to the University of Maryland School of Social Work. The median amount owed was $10,160."
