Safety Pin Call for Applicants

Are you interested in developing more knowledge in the areas of allyship, social justice, equity, and cultural competency overall? If yes, the Safety Pin Initiative is for you!

ISLSI is currently seeking faculty and staff for a special edition of the Safety Pin Initiative for the School of Social Work. The Safety Pin Initiative is an eight-session curriculum composed of short lectures and activities focused on introducing faculty and staff to various components of allyship.

This program recognizes that each individual is an expert of their personal lived experience; in order to have growth as an ally it takes deliberate and dedicated learning to better understand the foundational experiences and perceptions of others. Through active participation, the cohort will build on their existing cultural understanding by engaging in interactive discussion, assignments, and guided reflection.

Some of the topics discussed will include allyship, implicit bias, microaggressions, privilege, and infusing inclusivity into every day work.

Apply here by 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 17th.
