Professor Mel Bellin Plays Large Social Work Role in Development of New Spina Bifida Guidelines

Associate Professor Melissa “Mel” Bellin, PhD played an important role in the development of new guidelines for care released by the Spina Bifida Association. The Guidelines for the Care of People with Spina Bifida were developed by 100 experts from around the world to provide evidence-based and medical expert guidance on providing care for people with Spina Bifida—from birth through adulthood. Bellin collaborated with physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists on the Self-Management and Independence task group. In the video below, Bellin explains the years-long project, her role in it and the importance of the new guidelines released this fall.
