The HS/HSL is building the UMB Data Catalog (datacatalog.hshsl.umaryland.edu/) to facilitate the discovery of datasets created by UMB researchers. The catalog is not a repository to store data; it describes them. Contributing to the catalog provides increased visibility of a dataset on campus and beyond. They are discoverable through a search in the UMB Data Catalog, Google’s Dataset Search (beta) and Google. Use the link to your dataset record in articles, CV's, and your web profile. School of Social Work (SSW) faculty may submit information about a dataset using the SSW data catalog submission form (umbforms.wufoo.com/forms/z132z9r31o9vx2f/). HS/HSL metadata librarians will create a record based on information provided. Once a record is completed, it is sent to the researcher for approval. Once approved, it is made live in the catalog!
