The 2018 Rome Lecture, “Drug Pricing: Problems and Prospects

The 2018 Rome Lecture, “Drug Pricing: Problems and Prospects”, will be delivered by Dr. Aaron Kesselheim, Director of the Program on Regulation, Therapeutics and Law at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. The event will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 3:15pm in the Ceremonial Courtroom at the UM law school.

The lecture will be followed by a panel of experts on pharmaceutical drug pricing including:

· Josh Auerbach of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, who will address the Maryland anti-price gauging statute and ensuing litigation;

· Dr. Frank Palumbo of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, who will address the role of pharmacy benefit managers on drug costs;

· Dr. Bill Padula of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, who will speak about approaches other states have taken to stem the increases in prescription drug costs; and

· Dr. Ameet Sarpatwari of Harvard Medical School, who will speak about biologics and the biosimilar market.
