Project Feast - Volunteer with us this Thanksgiving Holiday!

We would like to notify you all of a volunteer opportunity through the School of Medicine. This is a well-known event that has taken place for 28 years, and the school looks forward to working with us social work students and faculty each year. Project Feast is a student organization at the UMSOM that puts together a free Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd from 11am-3pm at Booker T. Washington Elementary School for the homeless and underserved population of Baltimore, Maryland. This year, we are sponsored by the USGA of University of Maryland, Baltimore and the Medical Alumni Association. In addition to providing a meal, we also connect our guests with a variety of community resources and have a large collection of donated clothing, blankets, toiletries, and pantry staples available to meet their more immediate needs. For the past 28 years, this event has been held on Thanksgiving Day at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in West Baltimore, and has fed hundreds of people. Last year, we served approximately 450 guests with the help of 140 volunteers! Here’s how we could use help: Volunteer: help us transport & store donations, bake turkeys, advertise in the community, & volunteer serving the day of the event. Please sign up using this volunteer form: docs.google.com/forms/d/1GlY6vehFakSmtJTMoBpvifJx01RnHD9fJ_0JEShhchI/viewform?edit_requested=true Donate: gently used clothing, non-perishable food items, & toiletries to the collection boxes around campus, such as those in SMC lobby, medical school lobby, dental school entrance and law school entrance. Sponsor: direct donations for the cost of a turkey, meal, coat, or any amount are always welcome and appreciated.
