Free Interprofessional Advance Care Planning Learning Opportunity for 2nd Year Social Work Students
We are currently recruiting 20 advanced year MSW students interested in participating in an innovative training to facilitate complex conversations about health care decisions, treatments options, goals and values for end-of-life care. Trainees will attend a multi-session, interprofessional, interactive educational training to improve communication, knowledge, and skills regarding advance care planning. Participants will also review, discuss, and facilitate completion of advance directive documents.
Participants will attend three Friday afternoon interactive training sessions (currently scheduled for 10/13, 11/3, and 12/1, from 12-15-1:45pm) alongside medical and nursing student peers. An interdisciplinary group of clinicians, researchers, and experts will present interactive educational modules covering innovative communication strategies for discussing advance care planning.
-This is a free educational opportunity.
-The training is designed to improve participant knowledge and skills to communicate with patients and families about advance care planning.
-All trainees who successfully complete the full course will receive a training certificate.
-Lunch will be provided at all sessions.
