Jani's "Cultural Competence and Social Work Education: Moving Toward Assessment of Practice Behaviors" Named JSWE Best Empirical Article of Volume 52

Dr. Jayshree Jani's research article, "“Cultural Competence and Social Work Education: Moving Toward Assessment of Practice Behaviors,” which appeared in Volume 52, Issue 3, of the Journal of Social Work Education, has been chosen as the JSWE Best Empirical Article of Volume 52. Jayshree is an associate professor at the School's BSW program at UMBC.

Her work was chosen from among all articles published in JSWE in 2016. In choosing the best empirical article, the JSWE Editorial Advisory Board looked for originality of thought, sound or innovative conceptualization of the topic, and conclusions and/or recommendations that add significantly to the professional knowledge base and to social work education.

JSWE Best Article Award winners will be honored at the Council on Social Work Education 2017 Annual Program Meeting in Dallas, Texas, in October.

Funding for this study was provided by the UM SSW Dean’s Teaching Scholars Program.
