SOWK 631 Organizing for Justice Lecture Series

Welcome to the Second Annual SOWK 631 Organizing for Justice Lecture Series. This semester we will engage an exciting list of accomplished and thoughtful speakers on organizing topics such as media, transgender rights, tenant leadership, and homelessness empowerment. All lectures will begin at 6:00PM in the auditorium, but seating is limited:

- September 20 Marc Steiner, Founder of the Center for Emerging Media on "Media as a Tool of Social Change" - October 4 Ava Pipitone, Director of the Baltimore Transgender Alliance, on "Frameworks for Macro Practice: Power, Oppression, and Empowerment" - October 18 Communities United Public Housing Tenant Leaders on "Community Engagement and Community Intervention" - November 8 Faces of Homelessness Speakers Bureau on "Organizational Culture and Diversity" The series is especially relevant to students of SOWK 631: Social Work Practice with Communities and Organizations, but all members of the UMB community are invited. Coffee and snacks will be available outside the auditorium prior to the event.
