Volunteer Opportunities in Baltimore

International Rescue Committee Volunteer opportunities in Baltimore! Many refugees find their first few months in the U.S. a very challenging experience. Learning English, finding a job, and adjusting to a new life simultaneously is no small task.

  • Family Mentor: Family Mentors work with newly-arrived refugee families, providing refugees a meaningful connection to the community and individualized support as they adapt to life in the United States. A focus is placed on practicing English language skills, preparing them for their first job in the U.S., exploring and familiarizing themselves with the city, and becoming self-sufficient in their new home. A commitment of three hours per week for six months is required. For more information, please email Salman.Zaman@Rescue.org.

  • Resettlement Services Support (Office) Volunteers: Work closely with IRC staff on projects and other duties, as assigned. Projects may include updating databases, assisting the IRC Case Management Team with clients, or setting up appointments at medical clinics for clients. For more information, please email Taylor.Jenkins@Rescue.org.
