Poverty Simulation 2/17

The Poverty Simulation is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family and survive from week to week. This interactive workshop allows participants to assume the roles of a family member facing poverty. Participants will have the opportunity to experience some of the daily challenges a family in poverty may endure over a simulated experience of one month. The Poverty Simulation lasts approximately 2 hours. It includes an introduction and briefing, the actual simulation exercise, and a debriefing period in which participants and volunteer staffers share their reflections on the experience. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (two sessions are available) SMC Campus Center, Elm Ballrooms
