School of Social Work alum Joan Zlotnik is a member of the Measure Applications Partnership's (MAP) Dual Eligible Beneficiaries Workgroup that recently developed a new report "Promoting Community Connections through Quality Measurement for the Dual Eligible Beneficiary Population, 2016. " The report is the MAP’s latest set of recommendations to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for performance measures that can improve healthcare services and value for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.

These beneficiaries are some of the most vulnerable individuals accessing the healthcare system and supportive services, often experiencing disabling disease and complex social circumstances with limited resources. MAP supports the removal of six measures from the Dual Eligible Beneficiaries Family of Measures and shares feedback from stakeholders about priority areas for measurement development, including measures that address the growing role of community supports and services in serving dual eligible beneficiaries. MAP also discusses the need for measures that reflect the multiple complex and interrelated clinical and nonclinical needs of dual eligible beneficiaries.
