Please join us for the Maryland Food Access and Nutrition Network’s (MFANN) 6th annual Fighting Hunger in Maryland Conference on Tuesday September 27th at Lowe House Office Building in Annapolis, Maryland. We are honored to welcome this year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Leana Wen, the Health Commissioner of Baltimore City, and our plenary speaker, A. Adar Ariya with Associated Black Charities. The conference will examine the root causes of hunger and the structural barriers that produce and entrench communities in cyclical poverty as well as look to the future of policies and practices that are designed to make Maryland a more equitable and food-secure state. Expert presentations and interactive workshops will cover topics including: · Federal and State Anti-Hunger Policy and Advocacy, · Innovative Program and Policy Design, · Food System Approaches to Fighting Hunger, and · Promoting Racial Equity and Social Justice in the Food System. The $20 registration fee includes the plenary session, keynote address, and all panel discussions as well as a delicious breakfast and lunch! Scholarships are available to students and others with low-incomes who may be interested in attending the conference.
