SSW's Shdaimah, Others, Named Washington Center for Equitable Growth 2021 Grantees

Their study, awarded $80,000 in funding for a two-year period, will explore perspectives of home-based child care providers, whose voices are often missing from the early childhood educator workforce research and policy forums.

Working with the support of the Virginia Department of Education, Shdaimah, Palley, and Steen will conduct focus groups and interviews licensed and unlicensed providers to learn about: (1) the communities that they serve; (2) how they understand and deliver accessible and affordable quality care; and (3) benefits and challenges of home-based child care.
