The United Students of African Descent (USAD) and the Intercultural Center will be hosting and partaking in multiple events for Black History Month, outlined below. Please take a look at the event descriptions and register.

Trivia Night

Friday, 2/3 I 5-6PM I SMC Campus Center 208A

This event will focus on trivia questions regarding Black history in the U.S. Participants will form teams and compete. There will be light refreshments.

In collaboration with the Intercultural Center, this event is an opportunity for Black students at UMB to meet and connect with recently graduated professionals from across the University's professional and graduate schools.

Black Diaspora Panel

The Intercultural Center will be hosting a diaspora panel where a representative from each part of the Diaspora (African, Caribbean, American, and Latinx) will speak on their experiences and beliefs regarding the Black Diaspora.

The Table Dialogue: Centering Blackness in Society

In this month's dialogue, we'll discuss what it means to truly center and value Blackness across social institutions, including in education, media, the economy, and the workplace.

The Table is a monthly dialogue series where UMB students, staff, and faculty are invited to discuss current issues and unpack questions regarding race, ethnicity, culture, and norms.

Pan-African Festival

Friday, 2/17 I 6-8PM I SMC Ballroom

This event will celebrate the Black Diaspora with music, food, and an informal fashion show. There is no dress code. The event is free for UMB students and $10 for guests and faculty. If you signed up for the event in November, it does not count. RSVP online, as we are not accepting attendees at the door.
